The beautiful lie

Echoing through my head

Intersecting with my thoughts of self loathing

Utterly destroying them.

As it breaks through the wall of my doubt

Its prosthetic, crimson shell gives way

and its porcelain facade shatters

revealing its true visage.

The wonderful fiction

Like a unicorn, beautiful and rare

Like a mirage, wavering and unconstant

Like a fog, smothering and temporary.

I have found love in her

And it is cold

unforgiving

and ruthless.

It tears at my flesh as I struggle deeper inside

And find pure bliss in her.

The words and actions that cut like blades

are only interruptions trying to deter me from her

I will not falter.

Only her.

For now and always, she will be the spectre that haunts my thoughts,

invades my dreams, and makes my heart ache.
